Chelsea is reportedly engaged in discussions with Napoli to secure the services of striker Victor Osimhen. The 25-year-old, who is currently absent from the club's pre-season squad, is indicating a potential departure in the near future.
Osimhen emerged as a standout performer for Napoli, notably shining during their triumphant Serie A season in 2022-23. The Nigerian forward impressively contributed 26 goals and five assists in 32 appearances as Napoli clinched their first league title in over thirty years.
Despite a somewhat disappointing follow-up season, where Osimhen notched 15 goals and three assists in 25 matches, the striker appears poised to leave the Italian club this summer.
Reports from Football Insider (via Caught Offside) suggest that Chelsea is in talks with Napoli to acquire Osimhen, who is believed to have a release clause set at £93.5 million. However, Chelsea is reluctant to meet this valuation as they aim to strengthen their attacking options for the upcoming season following offensive struggles in the previous campaign.
Nevertheless, PSG is also in the race for Osimhen's signature, especially with the departure of Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid on a free transfer this summer, adding further competition for the talented striker.
