Asake's Historic Achievement on Spotify


Nigerian singer Ololade Ahmed, popularly known as Asake, has achieved a remarkable milestone by becoming the first African musician to top the global Spotify debut chart. This groundbreaking feat comes with the release of his third studio album, “Lungu Boy” which has captivated audiences and reached number one on the chart.


The album features 15 tracks and includes collaborations with renowned artists such as Wizkid, Travis Scott, Stormzy, Central Cee, and Ludmilla. Notably, it has set a new record for the biggest first-day streams for an African album on Spotify, showcasing the increasing global influence of African music.

On its first day, “Lungu Boy” amassed an impressive 9.42 million streams on the Global Spotify Chart, solidifying Asake's position as a leading figure in the music industry. This achievement highlights the growing popularity of African artists on international platforms and the unique sound they bring to the global music scene.

A standout track from the album, titled ‘MMS' featuring Wizkid, has also made waves by breaking the record for the biggest first-day streams on Spotify Nigeria, accumulating 870,000 streams.

Asake's success marks a significant milestone not just for him, but for African music as a whole, as it continues to gain recognition on the world stage.
