Nigerian Police have summoned Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh for questioning regarding charges of criminal defamation, cyberbullying, and forgery.


The police invitation letter, dated Monday, 5th of August, instructs the actress to report to the Force headquarters to address these allegations. Signed by the Head of the IGP Monitoring Unit, A.A. Elleman, and issued by the Inspector-General of Police Monitoring Unit, the letter connects the actress to ongoing investigations into the cases.


Tonto Dikeh, a prominent figure in Nollywood, is facing scrutiny from law enforcement over these serious allegations. The police have taken action by requesting her presence at the Force headquarters to provide answers related to the charges of criminal defamation, cyberbullying, and forgery.

The invitation letter points to a link between the actress and the cases currently under investigation.


The summons issued to Tonto Dikeh by the Nigerian Police, as outlined in the letter dated August 5th, highlights the gravity of the accusations leveled against the actress.

With the Head of the IGP Monitoring Unit signing the letter, it signifies the official nature of the request for her cooperation in addressing the criminal defamation, cyberbullying, and forgery charges.

  • “This office is investigating a case of criminal defamation, forgery, falsehood, cyberbullying, and criminal conversion reported to the Inspector-General of Police, in which your name and others feature prominently.
  • “In view of the above, you are kindly requested to attend an interview with the undersigned through SP Aminu Abdullahi Sokoto on 7th August 2024 at 10:00hrs to shed more light on the allegations.
  • “Your usual cooperation in this regard would be highly appreciated,” the statement disclosed.

The Spokesperson for the Police Force, Muyiwa Adejobi, revealed that, as of Friday, the Tonto Dikeh has been let go.“She was only invited to respond to a petition filed against her, and she has since left the unit, while the investigation continues.” Adejobi disclosed.
