Edo state governor, Governor Godwin Obaseki has revealed why he named the 6,000-capacity Edo Arena after Nigerian superstar singer, Rema.

The “Calm Down” hitmaker, Rema, along with the governor laid the first stone at the ceremony for the newly commissioned venue, now to be known as the Rema Dome.

Obaseki stressed that the Rema Dome would not only serve as a beacon of pride for the people of Edo but also as a magnet for international stars and visitors, boosting tourism and drawing global attention to the state.

He reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to fostering growth by boosting tourism, ensuring that Edo State becomes a leading destination for both national and international visitors.

In his words

  • “It was a pleasure to have our global music icon @heisrema, join me in performing the groundbreaking ceremony for the 6,000-capacity Edo Arena. The arena, which will be called ‘Rema’s Dome,’ is located at the former Garrick Memorial School Ground on Ekenhuan Road in Benin City.”
