Superstar rapper Drake has wagered $300,000 (equivalent to N465 million) on Canada to beat Argentina in the 2024 Copa America semifinal.
If his home country manages to upset Lionel Messi's team at the MetLife Stadium on Tuesday, July 9, Drake stands to win an impressive $2.88 million.
Canada initially lost to Argentina, then drew with Chile, and secured a 1-0 victory against Peru in the quarterfinals.
After a 1-1 draw in regular time, Canada defeated Venezuela 4-3 on penalties. Drake seems extremely confident in his home country's ability to cause an upset against Argentina.
He revealed his bet by sharing a screenshot on his Instagram story on Tuesday, captioned "This could get Messi @stake," along with a Canadian flag emoji.
This is not the first time the Hotline Bling crooner is placing a high stakes bet in sports as he broke his betting curse in 2023 when he staked on Israel Adesanya to beat Alex Pereira at UFC 287.
Luckily for the the popular rapper, Adesanya won and he [Drake] netted $2.7 million.
